Hello All My Fellow Adventure Seekers!!!!
Seems like lately all my adventures have been within my 4 walls and I’m starting to feel like a caged animal. We’ve had so much ice, sleet and snow on the East Coast that I can’t even get outside to walk without worrying about splatting on the ground. Next week is the beginning of March and I’m ready to be off and running once again.
By now we should have beautiful purple, white and yellow crocuses peeking out above the snow but the ground’s been so cold and frozen that nothing’s coming out yet. Once those first leaves start popping out of the trees, I’ll be in my little yellow VW Bug driving along scenic byways taking in all the sights. Here’s a link that shows you different scenic byways around the country, https://www.scenic.org/visual-pollution-issues/scenic-byways/scenic-byway-maps-by-state/. I’m sure you’ll find several in your neck of the woods. I’d love for you to share some of your trips with me as you go exploring.
Springtime in the DC area is spectacular. I especially love the cherry blossoms along the Tidal Basin. They look like cotton candy trees. It’s always fun to attend the National Cherry Blossom Parade but due to the pandemic, it’s canceled this year, but you can still go to see the blossoms. It’s hard to plan exactly when they’ll be at their peak but it’s usually some time between the end of March and mid-April. They’re absolutely stunning on a blue-sky day where you can view the monuments and their reflections on the water.
I love driving in the country down one lane roads that twist and turn taking me along babbling brooks, horse farms, little white steepled churches and barns. Now, especially, during the COVID-19 pandemic, going on an outing that takes you into farm country will give you an attitude adjustment. After being indoors so much this past winter, I may be spending more time outdoors than usual. Once I get to see my first daffodil, then I know it’ll be uphill from there. Hurry up Springtime, we’re anxiously awaiting your arrival!!!! 😎
I’ll be planning our next adventure together so stay tuned!!!
Huggles and Smoochies,
Your Friend, Susan
